Easter/Spring Break Hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday! Kylie and Micah had a wonderful time celebrating the Lord's resurrection and participating in an easter egg hunt after the service. This has to be one of my favorite dresses on Kylie, passed down from my nieces Taylor and Elizabeth. She loved wearing this dress and didn't want to take it off! Kylie had fun at the end of the egg hunt comparing treats with Sophie and Micah! arial">*************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Spring Break After Easter Sunday, we were off to Las Vegas for our spring vacation celebrating my father in law's 70th birthday and celebrating a very early 10 year anniversary. Our 10 year anniversary is actually in July, but since I am due with baby #3 in July, we figured we should celebrate early! Kylie and Micah are all packed up and ready for a vacation as we land into Las Vegas. Kylie quickly spots Dora and wheels her Dora backpack over to Dora's picture to pose. Micah watches our luggage as we find a rental car. My in laws have never in their lifetime been to Las Vegas so they are awed by all the sights and sounds in Vegas. The Venetian is one of my favorite hotels on the Strip, particularly because of their gondola rides! Kylie rode with me and she had the best time! At first, the gondolier sang some Italian songs, but then he sang "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" just for Kylie. Kylie started dancing and singing and became the star of the show for everyone who was lined up to watch the gondolas pass by! She loved the attention and sang even louder as people watched and cheered her on! I think she was one of the youngest passengers! We took only one picture since it was a madhouse in the factory and Micah and Kylie were too busy munching on m&ms to care for pictures! We had heard that the breakfast buffet called Le Village Buffet in the Paris was supposed to be really good. The tip we got was to hit the breakfast buffet by around 10:30 or so and pay breakfast prices to eat their breakfast and then stick around after 11am when they changed out their breakfast menu with their lunch menu. It was so worth it to do this! We started with the most amazing spread of breakfast foods you can think of and then stuck around while they started to serve prime rib, steak, grilled vegetables, and the most decadent french desserts imaginable. I actually think I ate more desserts ( fruit tarts, pastries, cheesecakes, chocolate covered strawberries, etc) than actual food. We ate for about 2 hours- and rolled our way out of there! Our next stop was to Caesar's Palace- another beautiful and grand hotel! We went there for dinner to celebrate my father in law's 70th birthday. Paul's dad has got to be one of the godliest men I know. Last year when Paul took him to see the Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit, Paul learned that his dad had read the entire Bible 12 times in the past year!! That is amazing- meaning that his dad manages to read through the entire Bible once every month. How humbling that was for both me and Paul to hear, and yet, we believe it as we see him live out his life in simplicity and quiet devotion to the Lord. How can anyone go to Vegas and not stop by to see the beautiful fountain show. Our favorite song by Andrea Bocelli was playing that night. Kylie and Micah were fascinated with the show and we stayed for a couple of songs. The last night in Vegas Paul and I decided that we should go out to a nice dinner without the kids. So, we decided to try the infamous Nobu restaurant at the Hard Rock Hotel. At first, we were taken aback by the run down and shabby appearance of the Hard Rock Hotel. But once we got into Nobu- the surroundings were very modern and the food was simply amazing!! I had to take pictures of almost every course we ate because the food was that good! Our first course: tuna tataki in a ponzu sauce- tuna that melts in your mouth was to die for! Yes, I know I'm pregnant and shouldn't have raw fish, but I couldn't resist! Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo Books The second dish was black cod with sweet miso dressing. This had to be the best tasting fish Paul and I ever had! We wished we had ordered several of these! Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo Books The third dish was rock shrimp tempura in a creamy spicy sauce--- unbelievable!! Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo BooksAnd last, but not least, was our out of this world desserts! We ordered 2 desserts- the flourless chocolate cake with green tea ice cream and the banana fried spring rolls with sesame brittle toffee ice cream. We were in heaven!
Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo BooksThat was actually not the best ending to our dinner! Turns out that when I got to the restaurant, I recognized one of the ladies at the front reception desk. It just so happened that this gal was a girl I knew from high school- one year younger than me!! She was friends with one of my best friends and happened to be the manager of Nobu. When we got our very expensive bill- she paid for our drinks and our desserts! What a surprise and had we known, we would have ordered more food! Nevertheless, we had a wonderful ending to our time in Vegas. We all gained about 5 pounds- but hey, I have an excuse- I am eating for two! |
